How to make Aloo Ki Roti (Stuffed Potato Paratha)


The Recipe

Makes: 4-6 rotis (depending upon the size and amount of filling)

Aloo Ki Roti is made by stuffing a spiced mashed potato filling inside whole wheat dough balls, creating a soft and flavorful individual paratha

Utensils needed:

  1. Large bowl for kneading the dough or a Cuisinart or dough maker 
  2. One bowl to mix the potato filling
  3. A rolling pin
  4. Flat surface
  5. A griddle or heavy bottom frying pan
  6. Spatula to flip and press the roti while cooking
  7. Small bowl with water to seal the edges of the dough when stuffing the filling

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  1. 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  2. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  3. Water (as needed)
  4. 1 teaspoon oil

For the Filling:

  1. 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  2. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  3. 1 green chili, finely chopped
  4. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  6. 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  7. 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional
