How to make Kashmiri Kahwa 🍡

There’s nothing quite like nestling up with a warm cup of tea on a cold day.

The Recipe 🍡

Time to make: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons green tea leaves 
  • 2 inches of cinnamon (preferably Ceylon cinnamon-which is tan, brown, thin and forms multiple layers when rolled up)
  • 2 cardamoms 
  • 2 cloves
  • ΒΌ cup almonds
  • 10-12 strands of saffron 
  •  1 teaspoon sugar (optional) 
  • 5-6 dried pink rose petals for sweet aroma and health (optional) 


Directions

  • Lightly crush cinnamon, green cardamoms and cloves (in a mortar-pestle)
  • Sliver/slice (preferred) or crush the almonds 
  • In a pot, add 2 1/2 cups of water and bring to a boil
  • Add cinnamon, cardamoms, and cloves
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-7 minutes
  • Add sugar, stir to dissolve
  • Add green tea leaves to the boiling water
  • Steep the tea for 2-3 minutes
  • Strain the tea into cups
  • Add almonds and saffron
  • Add rose petals to elevate the experience
