Did you know that the Grinch wasn’t always green?

In Dr. Seuss’s original book How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Grinch was illustrated in black & white with touches of red & pink for his eyes.

It wasn’t until the animated TV special in 1966, directed by Chuck Jones, that the Grinch became the iconic green character we know today.

The decision to make him green was reportedly inspired by a series of rental cars that Jones had encountered, all of which were an ugly shade of green!
