How to make paneer bhurji


The Recipe

Makes: For 2-4 people

This is a popular North Indian dish made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese0 herbs and ground spices.

Needed Utensils:

  1. Frying pan or kadai
  2. Spatula
  3. Chopping board
  4. Knife
  5. Small bowl

Ingredients:

  1. 200g or 2/3 cup paneer (crumbled)
  2. 1 tbsp oil or ghee
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 1 onion (finely chopped)
  5. 1 tomato (finely chopped)
  6. 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  7. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  8. 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  9. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  10. 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  11. Salt to taste
  12. 1 Tsp dry Methi (fenugreek leaves) optional
  13. 2 tbsp fresh cilantro (chopped)

Cooking Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add green chili and chopped tomatoes, cook until soft.
  5. Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well.
  6. Crumble paneer and add it to the pan. Mix well with spices.
  7. Cook for 2–3 minutes on low flame.
  8. Add dry methi (if using) and mix
  9. Add garam masala, fresh cilantro leaves and mix.
  10. Turn off the heat and serve with hot toast, roti or paratha
